The Power Credits Scheme
The Power Credits Scheme offers eligible households $110 credit directly onto their power bill. It was created by the energy sector to support households doing it tough and impacted by the phase-out of the low fixed charge on electricity bills.
You may be eligible if:
- your household is experiencing energy hardship, and
- you are, or have been, on a low fixed charge electricity tariff within the last 6 months, and
- you're with one of these participating electricity retailers: Contact, Meridian, Mercury, Genesis, Nova, Wise, Globug or Powershop.
The scheme has been extended until 2032. It’s funded by electricity lines companies and participating retailers who together contribute $1 million each year to help ease the pressure of rising energy costs.
