Apply for a Safety Consent or Disconnection

Keep yourself and others safe when working around the Network

If you intend to work close to overhead or underground power lines then we recommend applying for one of our safety consents or a safety disconnection. Learn about the different options we have available and how to apply for them below:

Disconnect for Safety -

This type of disconnection allows temporary disconnection of your property from the network for activities such as but not limited to the following:

  • Property Maintenance
  • Roofing work
  • cleaning spouting
  • painting
  • water-blasting
  • tree trimming
  • erecting scaffolding if work is to be carried out close to overhead service lines.

Close Approach Consent -

A Close Approach Consent application is required when you need to undertake any activity which may come within the safe minimum approach distance (MAD) of 4.0 metres from Network Waitaki’s high voltage or low voltage power lines.

This safety requirement may also allow temporary disconnection of your property from the network for activities such as but not limited to the following:

  • Property Maintenance
  • Roofing work
  • Cleaning spouting
  • Painting
  • Water-blasting
  • Tree trimming
  • Erecting scaffolding if work is to be carried out close to overhead service lines.
